EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR ULTIMATE ROMANCE

 

Hannibal, MO – Julie and John Rolsen wanted to build a secluded cottage that would offer the ultimate in romance and privacy to guests of Garth Woodside Mansion.  Their dream was to include absolutely everything that anyone might ever want for a very special and intimate getaway.  Not a detail was overlooked, and none of the special touches that they knew their guests sought were spared.  What resulted was the spectacular, three story stone Dowager Cottage, now offering the perfect refuge for romance. 

 

What did it take for Garth Woodside Mansion to create an extremely romantic setting?

 

  1. Fireplaces:  Look for not just one, but two.  Guests can turn on one fireplace remotely from the double whirlpool tub in the bath, and the other one from the bedroom, while lying in bed.  The bedroom fireplace has a beautiful window over it, allowing one to view the stars over the fireplace at night.

 

  1. Whirlpool and Hot tubs:  Again, the Rolsens knew their guests looking for the ultimate in romance would want the double whirlpool tub in the bath, but they didn’t stop there.  A six-person Hot Springs hot tub is also found on the cottage’s extremely private deck, overlooking the pond. 

 

  1. Luxurious linens and baths:  The enormous king sized bed sports 800-thread count linens.  For those who don’t know about thread counts, this feels like the ultimate in satiny sheets.  The bathroom offers a ten by four-and-a-half foot shower with eleven jets, including one that rains down from the top.  Technically, this should count as a whirlpool tub, as it’s ultimately a vertical whirlpool.  There are two sinks, and lest you think the Rolsens forgot anything, one is taller than the other, to offer something for the tall and something for the shorter guests.  Finally, a bidet in the water closet rounds out the offerings here.

 

 

  1. Privacy:  Knowing intimacy means seclusion, the cottage offers the utmost in privacy.  For those who’d rather not see anyone but each other, breakfast is served in the cottage.  The house-keeper will bring a four course breakfast, set the table in the cottage’s private kitchenette, and just before she leaves she will light the tiny light in the bedroom with the switch in the kitchen to let guests know she is on the way OUT the door.  Voila! Breakfast in the privacy of your own kitchen! When guests arrive, they find the fridge stocked with veggie and meat platters too.

 

  1. Plenty of space to spread out & all the comforts of the alphabet:  A beautiful spiral staircase leads to a loft living area with big windows overlooking the tall oaks in the far back yard.  For those who never like going unplugged, have no fear.  There is a TV, VCR/DVD and a BOSE theater surround-sound system and a 300-volume DVD library just in case additional entertainment is needed.

 

Garth Woodside Mansion is in the process of adding two more cottage units.  While the new cottages are a rival the Dowager, they will be smaller versions offering romantic amenities including fireplaces and whirlpool tubs, privacy and modern furnishings. The two new cottages are slated to be open by fall, 2004.
